Ed Muir is a lifelong sailor and boating enthusiast. He's cruised with his family and friends in waters from coastal Maine to the British Virgin Islands, and from Puget Sound to Southern California. When he traded his main sail and tiller for a unique power boat, he chronicled the process in which he and his wife engaged to research, find, assess and buy what was, for them, the perfect coastal cruising boat. In this book, he shares his personal approach, the diligent homework and the lessons they learned along the way. While specifically about boats, its lessons are applicable to anyone thinking about a diversion in the next stage of life, whether a vacation home, a classic car, a cruising boat or an RV.
Ed is a deep thinker, on just about any subject that interests him.
This trait is coupled with an action orientation and a real joy and satisfaction in learning to do things himself.
Ed also has a passion for writing - the process of getting his thoughts down on paper until the story he wants to tell emerges.
Some of his published articles are woven into the book, enriching the story and giving us a glimpse into his thinking.
Ed stages and reveals these insights in a way that holds the reader’s interest.
Ed Muir thrives on learning new things driven by his curiosity,
especially when it enables him to develop a creative approach to solving a problem or learning and employing a new skill.
He has the soul of an artist with a keen eye, and the heart of a gifted storyteller.
There is a peacefulness here that seeps into the soul.
